Football Betting: Match Result, Handicap and Totals Compared

Football looks easy to bet on because most people already know who they want to win. The difficulty is in the market names, which slice a 90-minute match in half a dozen ways. These six cover what a Philippine player meets most often.
Football Betting: Six Markets in Order
Take one match, Home against Away, and read down the list.
- Match result (1X2). Three outcomes: Home, Draw or Away. A draw is a result you can bet on as well.
- Draw no bet. Two outcomes, with the stake refunded if the match is level, so it prices lower than the three-way result.
- Asian handicap. A goal head start is given to one side, as in Home -0.5, which needs a home win.
- Goal totals. Over or under a line such as 2.5, judged on the final tally.
- Both teams to score. Yes if each side scores at least once, whatever the result.
- Double chance. Two of the three outcomes in one bet, such as Home or Draw.
Before you go: write the market name and your one-line reason beside it before you stake.
Handicaps With Quarter Lines
A line such as -0.25 splits the stake into two halves, one on a level result (0) and one on -0.5. Using an invented ₱400 stake, if your side wins, both halves win. If the match is drawn, the 0 half is refunded and the -0.5 half loses, so you lose ₱200. If your side loses, the full ₱400 goes.
Before you go: for a quarter line, think of two bets of half the size, one each side.
Reading the Price Against the Result
A price only helps when you can turn it into a payout. At decimal 2.10 a ₱500 stake on a home win returns ₱1,050, a profit of ₱550. The same ₱500 on Draw no bet at 1.60 returns ₱800 on a win, ₱500 back on a draw.
| Market | Stake | Price | Returns if you are right |
|---|---|---|---|
| Home win (1X2) | ₱500 | 2.10 | ₱1,050 |
| Draw no bet | ₱500 | 1.60 | ₱800 |
| Over 2.5 goals | ₱500 | 1.90 | ₱950 |
These prices are invented to show the sums. The odds explained with sums shows how to convert any price on your slip.
Before you go: check the arithmetic before you confirm, because the slip should match your calculation.
Age, Access and the Basketball Contrast
Only players aged 21 and up may bet, and the age rules for sports betting list who PAGCOR bars. The lobby has a Sports tab with markets that need a session, so log in for the football list or sign up to view fixtures and see what is listed. A sport with many points, like the one on the NBA betting page, uses spreads of several points, while football uses fractions of a goal.
Before you go: do not carry a basketball habit into football, since one goal is worth far more than one point.
How to Get Started
-
Name what you are predicting
A result, a margin or a goal count are three different bets, so choose before you open the slip.
-
Check the price and the line
A handicap or total shows a number of goals as well as a price, and both appear on the slip.
-
Confirm the time basis
The usual football market settles after 90 minutes with stoppage time added, and the rules line states it.
